I first started learning from my grandfather and his dad who was a well known Master Craftsman in Detroit. Working on many of, the now historic buildings, in the city. He made moldings, trim and carvings back in the late tees to the fifties when he retired.
I spent many hours with my grandfather in his shop and on ocasion going nent door to his dad's shop to help him on something. The One Thing I remember the most was to keep your tools SHARP and in the proper place!
I love to use my lathe. I find that I spend more time with it than any other tool. But I go through stages it seems. I sepnt several years scrolling a while back and got good at it. To the point of needing a special pair of glasses. I Now it collects dust in my shop untill it is time to start making puzzles and toys for Christmas.
I am an avid DIY'er I am Mr. fix-it in my neighborhood (mostly seinors) or the ocasional door to replace or deck to build.
I am a DeWalt man. All of my power tools are made by them or another Black and Decker company except for my Lathe. It is a Jet 16X32 with a Strong Hold Chuck. What I want next is to add vacuume chuck to it.
